Japan Day in Düsseldorf

When I first visited the Japan Day in Düsseldorf many years ago there had been some stalls selling expensive food and arts and crafts and there had been several performances on stage. Quite nice. Meanwhile by 2017 it has become a big happening. In addition to the stalls and performances there were mangas and anime figurines all over the city. Mainly young people dressed up in elaborate handmade costumes. They were very keen and proud to have their photos taken. It was a festival of happines and colours with free hugs everywhere.

In the evening all visitors were waiting for the presentation of the original Japanese fireworks display. With 650.00 visitors (population 612.000) one of the biggest events in Düsseldorf and certainly well worth to see.
